Sleeve Gastrectomy

A vertical sleeve gastrectomy procedure decreases the size of the stomach, limiting the amount of food that can be eaten at one time. During the sleeve gastrectomy procedure a thin vertical sleeve of stomach is created using a stapling device. The rest of the stomach is removed. The sleeve is about the size of a banana. As a result, you'll feel full sooner and with less food. Sleeve gastrectomy allows for normal digestion and absorption.

Potential Concerns of Sleeve Gastrectomy
Sleeve gastrectomy can help you feel satisfied sooner and with less food, and also has some effect on the desire to eat. You will need to follow your specific diet and exercise guidelines provided by your surgeon to achieve success, and you will need to add vitamin and mineral supplements to your diet.
